MOL foresees reparation works in Danube Refinery to be finished in Q3 2026

Based on the initial damage assessment of the fire incident affecting the Danube Refinery’s AV3 crude distillation unit in October 2025, the fire was caused by equipment failure and consequential disintegrity of a pump in form of a rupture.

MOL Plc. (“MOL”) hereby notifies the capital markets of the following:

Based on the initial damage assessment of the fire incident affecting the Danube Refinery’s AV3 crude distillation unit in October 2025, the fire was caused by equipment failure and consequential disintegrity of a pump in form of a rupture. Based on the internal investigation, gross negligence, wilful misconduct or other external impact can be closed out as possible root causes. MOL expects that the reparation works will be finished, with the Danube refinery to return to full capacity in Q3 2026.

MOL is insured against such events, with insurance contracts extending to technical damage as well as lost opportunity type of damage. The claim assessment process is in progress.

In order to mitigate the production lost at the Danube Refinery MOL increased the processing of semi-finished feedstock. As a result MOL expects the production loss around 30% on average, changing over time in the period of the refurbishment. To compensate and to secure fuel supply of MOL’s markets MOL will intensify the transfer of products from its Bratislava Refinery and will increase 3rd party import from the region.

With the damage investigation works still ongoing, and the scheduling of the engineering, procurement and construction works mostly based on very first expert-level estimates, the aforementioned time need for the repair works is subject to change.
